Check Out My Tapas Menu Style
Recently I was planning a dinner party and our good friend, Ben, offered to be my intrepid sous chef. Brave soul! While discussing the menu, the grand idea of doing an appetizers and tapas style menu was agreed on. In my usual fashion, I set an ambitious menu of all new recipes. I also went on the hunt for an air fryer, thinking this would offer another cooking source other than the stove and oven. No luck on finding the one I wanted at short notice. More to come on air fryers soon.
Rather than make all the dishes at once, each dish was paired with another, to serve at 20-25 minute intervals. We did as much prep in advance, including working out all the timing. If you are thinking this is complicated, you would be pleasantly surprised otherwise, as were Ben and I. What an incredible night with our friends, lots of talking, laughing and ooing and aahing over every dish with a vote at the end for the best dish. No true winner but many with multiple votes.
I now have 7 new recipes to add to my website and another dinner party to plan for and some test kitchen work with the air fryer.
Menu
Blackened Shrimp Cucumber and Avocado Bites
Corn and Zucchini Fritters
Stuffed Mushrooms with Gruyere, Artichoke, and Spinach with a Panko Crust
Maryland Crab Cakes with Remoulade Sauce
Beef Crostini with Caramelized Onions and Horseradish Aioli
Slow Roasted Pork Belly Bites served over Thai Mango Chili Slaw (definitely cook with the air fryer next time)
Baked Lobster Tails with Garlic, Butter and Parsley
It all looks delicious.
