Where Do I Get it From?

Updated: Oct 20

My Mum had her hands full with five kids and a limited budget, so the child who shows the most promise with helping cook family meals starts cooking. My Mum shared the secret to smooth mashed potatoes, a good recipe for shepherds pie and much more.

Plating for 5 children and 2 adults takes time but was necessary growing up. As an adult I avoid plating most of the time as I want my guests to plate what they enjoy and I abhor food going cold. I love a communal feel to my dinner parties - the waiting in line and chatting, the comradery, to the new person getting to know the others because we invited them as they would enjoy this group of people.

I always wanted to experiment in those early years, but was limited and inexperienced to no fault of anyone. As an adult, I've discovered just how much I have to learn about herbs, marinades, contrasting flavors, styles of cooking and so much more. I am still only a beginner.

Thank you to my parents, as they both influenced my cooking in some way and ignited my passion for cooking. Dad was the breakfast guy - check out my pancakes recipe, you may never go back to the box kind.

Thank you to all the fabulous restaurants in Perth whose good food fueled my love to cook and want to deconstruct and replicate their recipes. Those recipes are coming soon to the website. And much thanks to my friends, who shared my passion for food, showed me great cooking or a great restaurant, or simply were prepared to be a guinea pig on my cooking journey.

I can't help but want to feed people. I only add recipes that I feel meet my criteria, which includes the 'I can't cook', 'I don't have time' (fyi - it takes longer to order and have delivered or pick-up), 'I am not a good cook', etc. This site is for you!
